History 2009 - 2018
The Portland Camera Club in its current format was formed in 1961.

Portland Camera Club continues to meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Arts Centre formally CEMA since 2012
Financial members remained steady with 15 - 20 members but has slowly declined in the last few years.
As well as monthly competitions the club has regular outings or workshops for club members.

Portland Camera Club held it 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2011 with the First President Bruce
Fuhrer (1961-1962) attending along with past and present club members.
Workshops
The Portland Club has hosted workshops with many conducted by Life member Cor Melis. His contributions to the club was greatly appreciated and his knowledge invaluable.
Visiting judges have also passed on their knowledge to club members.
Several members of the camera club mentored children from the South Portland Primary School as part of their arts program in 2016.
Competitions
2011 The club ceased holding a slide section in its monthly competition.
Sections are now Prints with Open and Set subjects along with Digital Projected Images.
The club enters VAPS each year and also the South Western Interclub between Warrnambool and
Colac entering both Print and digital images.
Sister Club
In 2016 Portland was approached to create a sister club with Portland Camera Club from Dorset, England.
2017 Both clubs exchanged digital images depicting each others towns along with information relating to each image.
2018 A friendly competition will be held again exchanging digital images.
VAPS Awards
2011 VAPS Interclub, Julie Davies received a Merit award in the Open Slides division.
2014 Cor Melis was honoured for 60 years of membership. Cor was the second president of the club appointed in 1963 and continued in that roll until 1968.
Before coming to Portland Cor was a member of the Warrnambool Camera Club for 10 years.
Cor remained active, often judging or delivering talks on special aspects of photography such as lighting and macro following the monthly meetings.
On November 11 ,2016 Cor passed away aged 97 years. He is greatly missed by all club members who knew and respected him.
